Steve Wozniak, the celebrated inventor who co-founded tech giant Apple, has been rushed to hospital in Mexico City.

The 73-year-old tech entrepreneur suffered a possible stroke and was rushed to hospital in Mexico City, Mexican media outlets reported.

Entertainment website TMZ broke news of Wozniak’s health issues on Wednesday night, reporting he had suffered “vertigo” symptoms.

Mr Wozniak was scheduled to speak at a World Business Forum event in the Mexican capital’s Santa Fe neighbourhood, “after which he told his wife he was said he was ‘feeling strange’”, TMZ reported.

“He then started exhibiting symptoms that alarmed his wife,” the report added.

Reuters could not immediately confirm the reports that Mr Wozniak had been hospitalised.

In the 1976, Wozniak founded the fledgling Apple Computer company along with his more famous business partner Steve Jobs, the acclaimed investor and longtime Apple chief executive who died in 2011.

Their business pioneered personal computing and went on to be the world’s most valuable company, known for the design and functionality of a range of consumer electronics, including laptop and desktop computers, and the iPhone mobile phone.
