After his participation in the APEC summit in San Francisco, United States, the president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, traveled to the Yucatán peninsula, where on Saturday, November 18th, to supervise the work of the Felipe Carrillo Puerto International Airport, in Quintana Roo and on Sunday, November 19th, AMLO and Mauricio Vila will inaugurate the La Plancha Park in Mérida, Yucatán.
“We supervise the progress of the Tulum International Airport, Felipe Carrillo Puerto, together with our beloved president @lopezobrador_, just 13 days after its inauguration. “Quintana Roo is preparing to become the first state to have four international airports!” Quintana Roo Governor Mara Lezama published on her social networks.
The post is accompanied by images of the progress of the construction of the air terminal, in charge of the Secretariat of National Defense which will be inaugurated on December 1. López Obrador and the governor led joint evaluation meetings of the Mayan Train, which begins operations on December 15, as well as the Tulum International Airport and Cancún infrastructure projects.
On their supervision tour, in addition to touring the new Tulum air terminal, both authorities carried out overflights over the works of sections 4 and 5 of the Mayan Train and led work meetings to evaluate the infrastructure projects of the municipality of Benito Juárez and the Jaguar Park.
López Obrador praised the thousands of workers who are part of these works: “We are already supervising the works of the Mayan Train. Look at what Mexico’s construction workers do. Aren’t they the best in the world? “, indicated the president on his social networks, accompanied by a video showing the assembly and casting of a viaduct of the railway project.
On December 15, the first stage of the train begins operations, on the Campeche-Cancún section. Quintana Roo has three stations on that route: Nuevo Xcan, Leona Vicario, and Cancún Airport. Mara Lezama highlighted that “the train of social justice is closer to traveling and bringing shared prosperity to the entity and the entire Mexican southeast.”
After visiting Quintana Roo, the president will continue his tour in Yucatan, where this Sunday, November 19, he will inaugurate in the state capital the works on the Great Park of La Plancha, a new coexistence space for Yucatecan families and a tourist attraction that will use the entire land. abandoned La Plancha.
This new space will have four children’s play areas, a covered walkway throughout the park, an artificial lake with more than 13 thousand square meters, a boardwalk, a gastronomic market, a pet park, a skate park, an outdoor gym, sports areas, and a cycle path; in addition to the Museum of Light, the Railway Museum and an amphitheater with capacity for 10 thousand people. It will also have an Ie-tram station, which will transport passengers arriving from the Maya Train, in Teya, to the center of Mérida.
