AMLO to inaugurate the new Tulum International Airport on Friday, Dec. 1… Is it ready to start operations?

The Tulum International Airport received its first Boeing 737 , on a test flight, just hours after the official inauguration of the air terminal by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador .

The B737 aircraft, from Aeroméxico landed without incident on the 3.7-kilometer runway, the longest in the Yucatan Peninsula.

According to the government’s programming, around noon tomorrow, Friday, the President of the Republic will put into operation the terminal, built in the municipality of Felipe Carrillo Puerto, which will meet the demand of passengers from Tulum.

With 75 thousand square meters of construction, the “ Felipe Carrillo Puerto ” airport will allow the landing of aircraft with the latest generation technology.

Its platform will have 13 positions for commercial aircraft, both for domestic and international flights, as well as an additional platform for general aviation and executive aviation that will have 28 positions.

Likewise, it will have a storage hangar with 12 positions for executive aircraft.

In its first stage of operation, it is expected to move 5.5 million passengers per year. Its objective is 32 thousand operations per year.

he opening of the Tulum International Airport has generated interest from not only national airlines, but also international ones.

Aeroméxico, for example, has considered flights from December 1 from the Benito Juárez International Airport in Mexico City; For its part, Viva Aerobús has considered, so far, its first flight for the same day from the Felipe Ángeles International Airport.

Internationally, companies such as Delta Airlines, American Airlines, United Airlines, British Airways and Spirit have signed up for early 2024.
