President Andrés Manuel López Obrador declared that the Guadalajara International Book Fair ( FIL ) is characterized by being a meeting of the right with a conservative inclination.
During his morning conference at the National Palace, the president pointed out that he has been invited to the FIL many times, but has avoided attending due to the tendency in favor of conservatism.
López Obrador declared that the population is free to attend the Guadalajara International Book Fair, but asked that there be no simulation.
Claudia Sheinbaum reported that she will not attend the FIL, allegedly for scheduling reasons.

Members of the opposition state that the reason why Lopez Obrador has never attended the FIL in Guadalajara is basically that he is not interested in culture, and he is not a passionate reader; so, that is why he prefers to avoid this event every year.
