The president suggested that the next government should “disappear” the Institute, given the ineffectiveness it has had in the fight against corruption

President Andrés Manuel López Obrador suggested that the next government disappear the National Institute of Transparency, Access to Information and Protection of Personal Data due to the ineffectiveness it has had in the fight against corruption, hiding important information at the time such as the case of tax evaders or the fraud of the Odebrecht company.

During his press conference, Obrador said that when it was created, under the government of Vicente Fox, it was done under pure surrealism because corruption was not considered a serious crime.

AMLO said that this was promoted at the time by the so-called civil society.

For many political analysts, AMLO wants to eliminate the INAI so that they do not supervise and carry out scrutiny of his government’s actions.
