Once again, the Merida Periferico is the scene of two accidents in one day.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported and all was left to ‘loving’ material damage to the cars involved.
An Onyx car ended up with its front destroyed after its driver lost control of the steering wheel, in the middle of the Mérida Peripheral Ring Road, and crashed into the metal structure of an advertisement.
On October 31, at kilometer 39 of the Perife´rico, very close to the bridge at the exit to Ciudad Caucel, a man was driving a grey Chevrolet sedan accompanied by a woman in that area of the Periférico Poniente, when he suddenly lost control of the steering wheel and projected at full speed to the right.
The Chevrolet ended up wrapped around a metal pole on the side of the road. The impact left the front of the car seriously damaged.
The driver suffered some minor injuries, and after being treated by paramedics along with his passenger, he decided not to be taken to a hospital and waited for the arrival of his insurance company representative. SSP agents and experts became aware of the accident.
Also on Periférico, but at kilometer 3, another tremendous accident occurred between a Volkswagen Vento vehicle and a flatbed tractor-trailer loaded with concrete bases, right at the junction of the Hacienda Santa Cruz Palomeque, on the southern outskirts of the Yucatecan capital.
No injuries were reported in the latter either, but the Vento had its front shattered, while the heavy unit, whose operator performed a prohibited maneuver, ended up with a punctured diesel tank.
