When it comes to the best beaches for visitors in Mexico, there is one national recognition that stands out — the Playa Platino, or Platinum Beach, awards.

When you are looking for the top beaches in the country honored with the Playa Platino award, tourists don’t have to seek any further than Cancun.

Honors For Cancun Beaches

The Playa Platino recognition is a top honor bestowed on the best beaches Mexico has to offer for visitors.

Playa Las Perlas in Cancun

At a recent ceremony for the distinction, seven different Cancun beaches were granted the distinction, making the beach resort destination the national leading location with the most top beaches.

Cancun was also recognized with the Playa Limpia Sustentable, or Clean and Sustainable Beach, certification from the Mexican Institute for Standardization and Certification (IMNC) as well.

The certification ensures that the beaches of Cancun meet the standards for quality, services and cleanliness, especially for tourism.

Normally, the white flag warns swimmers of the presence of jellyfish in the water. However, this white flag is actually an honor for Cancun.

The white flag of Clean and Sustainable Beach certification was presented to Municipal President Ana Paty Peralta of Cancun for two local beaches.

Playa Las Perlas was recognized with the highest certification possible for beaches meeting the top ratings for quality, services, and cleanliness.

Meanwhile, Playa Delfines was also presented with the white flag for meeting the Level Two certification, one level below Playa Las Perlas.

Playa Platino Recognition

Meanwhile, at the same ceremony, seven beaches in Cancun were recognized with the Playa Platino status.

The beaches receiving the honor were Del Niño, Chac Mool, Marlín, Ballenas, Delfines, and Coral, together with the beach of the Occidental Tucancun Hotel.

Speakers at the event commented that the beaches of Cancun belong to everyone, to the people of Cancun, and to tourists as well.
