Once again, the Progreso-based artist Edith Villanueva highlighted Yucatán in an international Body Paint contest, where she won third place over dozens of participants.
The World Bodypainting Festival is an important competition in which hundreds of artists from around the world come together to captivate with their beautiful works.
The event was held in Austria, where the colors and bodies were used as canvas by artists, and makeup artists were transformed into true works of art.
The Yucatecan Edith Villanueva participated in the Open Online distance category in 2023, where more than 110 participants competed and she was proudly among the best three artists worldwide.
The young woman expressed that she was very happy for such important international recognition with her work called “Microcosmos viruses and bacteria”, which she created from Progreso online on September 27.
His work lasted eight hours of work, plus an hour of photography and video session with Gabriel Moguel and Yamir Jatar Febles.
Her work is inspired by microorganisms in a miniature world. In it, characters are fighting viruses and bacteria.
The beautiful model was the young Amairani Ricalde, who for almost 10 hours was the canvas of a true work of art in which Edith’s color and creativity gave an excellent result. Villanueva commented that for a year he was preparing to improve his technique and practiced the design for about four months.
It is not the first time that the artist has had an outstanding participation in Body Paint contests, since in previous years she has obtained important recognitions, winning first and second place prizes.
It should be noted that in 2020 she won first place in the National Catrinas Body Paint Contest, organized by the Mega Procession of Catrinas group from Mexico City.
For October and November, Edith will participate with Grupo Cantares in a Catrinas show, for which she will be in charge of the makeup production.
