In Yucatán, preparations are underway to construct the world’s most extensive altar with the goal of surpassing the Guinness World Record. The main leader behind this challenge is Jorge Moreno, who heads the Paranormal Museum and is a respected investigator of paranormal phenomena in the state.
While precise details about the construction of the altar have not been fully revealed, it has been mentioned that it will involve approximately two thousand photographs, which would qualify it for the Guinness World Record competition.
Moreno indicated that there will be a press conference in the coming days to provide information about the ‘giant offering’ that will be held as part of Hanal Pixán (Soul’s food, in its Spanish translation).
In other matters, he noted that the paranormal museum is open year-round, but during the month of October, the number of visitors increases.
“It’s open year-round, and we receive about 13,000 visitors, but during this month alone, we can have around 3,000.”
During the season of Day of the Dead and Halloween, the monthly average triples, accounting for 23 percent of the total attendance.
This museum celebrated its tenth anniversary in May and is open from Monday to Sunday, with operating hours from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM on weekdays, from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM on Saturdays, and from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM on Sundays.
Although they have established regular operating hours, during the Day of the Dead and Halloween season, they close at 11:00 PM because many visitors prefer to come at night.
It is relevant to note that Jorge Moreno emphasized that his establishment is not a haunted house, and they do not intend to scare people. Instead, it consists of six exhibition rooms housing a collection of 650 items from 17 countries.
