The governor of Yucatan, Mauricio Vila Dosal, announced the rescue and modernization of 23 parks in the south of Merida and the remodeling of the Sports Unit in San Jose Tecoh with an investment of 180 million pesos.

The Yucatecan president met with neighbors and students at the Polifuncional de San José Tecoh, where he also said that the Sports Unit will be named after the Yucatecan soccer player, Henry Martin, player of Club América and current scoring champion.

In addition, Vila Dosal highlighted Martin’s career, whom he recognized for being the first Yucatecan player to reach a World Cup in the Qatar 2022 World Cup, where he played as a starter for the Mexican National Team and scored Mexico’s first goal in the game against Saudi Arabia.

The new Sports Unit will have basketball, 5-a-side and 7-a-side soccer, indoor soccer, tochito, as well as batting cages and a multipurpose center with boards, roof and bleachers.

The gymnasium and boxing area will be expanded to include restrooms, a medical area and a new chess room. The grass on the fields will be rehabilitated and an irrigation system and new lighting will be installed.

Historically, two new large amusement areas will be built for children, a splash pad with a roofed area to generate shade, with aquatic areas and games such as water launchers and a pirate ship.

Among the amenities there will be an area with extreme amusements, zip line, free fall, labyrinth, climbing wall and pedal car track. There will also be 6 commercial spaces and 117 parking spaces, including parking for people with disabilities, motorcycles and bicycles.
