SEMAR rescues shipwrecked fisherman off the coast of Progreso, Yucatán

Progreso, Yucatan – Agents of the Secretary of the Navy were able to rescue a shipwrecked fisherman after several days and bring him to safety in this port.

The fisherman was lost for several days at sea.

Fishermen from the boat “Tiburón IV” gave the alert and collaborated in the rescue.

The rescued individual showed signs of dehydration and received medical attention from the Thirteenth Naval Zone. He was transferred by ambulance to a local hospital to receive specialized attention.

No details were disclosed as to how the shipwreck occurred.

Apparently the boat he was traveling in broke down and he sought to reach land by swimming.

The rescue was successful because of the collaboration between fishermen and the Mexican Navy.
