Renán Barrera promotes economic programs exclusively for women in Mérida

 As part of the strategy to enhance the talent of the Municipality’s entrepreneurs, the mayor of Mérida, Renán Barrera Concha promotes economic and labor growth programs with a gender perspective so that women have professional and social development.

“With our municipal support we contribute to building an even floor, creating and maintaining new businesses, ventures, and sources of employment that translate into social justice, where women assume a leading role in the local economy and commerce,” highlighted the President. Municipal during the inauguration of the 23rd Expo Trade Fair 2023 that takes place at the “Yucatán Siglo XXI” Convention Center from the 20th to the 22nd of this month.

She cited as an example the “Be Part of the 100” program, aimed at new entrepreneurs, in which 70% of the projects come from women in areas such as food and beverages, the creative industry, textile design, fashion, health, and beauty, home, decoration, and crafts, which we support with trademark registrations before the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI).

In this framework and in the presence of Joaquín Mier y Terán Puerto, Undersecretary of Planning, Promotion and Projects of the Secretariat of Economic Development and Labor (SEFOET); Levy Abraham Macari, president of the National Chamber of Commerce, Services and Tourism of Mérida (CANACO SERVYTUR) Mérida and Mauricio López Cantón, president of the Organizing Committee of the 23rd Expo Trade Fair 2023, Barrera Concha indicated that this type of spaces The joint work and effort of the government with private initiative allows efforts to be directed towards a common objective: the progress of Yucatán towards its industrial, economic and commercial consolidation.

In this sense, the Mayor mentioned that as part of this coordinated work this week, the “Emprende MID” platform ( https://emprendemid.com/ ) was launched in order to continue promoting entrepreneurial culture through digital technology. , workshops, support, and training through tools for business acceleration, and that has the participation of the private initiative.

On the other hand, he recalled that in 20 years the Micromer program has granted 79 million pesos in support for the opening of new businesses, where 70% of these resources were used by women.

Given the success of this program, he continued, last June Macromer was launched, which grants credits of 101 thousand to 350 thousand pesos, focused only on Micromer borrowers who have punctually fulfilled their salaries.

“At the municipal level, we support all citizens who want to launch business projects with better professional and personal development, establishing alliances with other sectors for the benefit of entrepreneurs. Since June of this year, Macromer has been assigned 17 approved loans for an amount of 4 million 216 thousand pesos,” he reported.

Likewise, he indicated that the Municipal Government, through the Directorate of Economic Development and Tourism, and the National Chamber of Commerce, Services and Tourism of Mérida, signed a letter of commitment last July to continue promoting linkage and fair trade for small producers and entrepreneurs of the Municipality.

In the 23rd edition of the Expo Feria del Comercio 2023, the Mérida City Council is participating with ten producers from the Círculo 47 program and ten entrepreneurs from the Municipal Entrepreneurs Center with the aim of offering their products and creating business links.

Likewise, a stand was installed where the Economic Development and Tourism programs such as tourism promotion, job exchange, business service center, rapid business opening, Micromer and Macromer credits, and job training are located. In addition, for the first time, the Permanent Committee of the Mérida Carnival and the Central de Abastos were installed.
