Police officers arrested in CDMX for femicide of Montserrat Juárez

Montserrat Juarez was a young woman who was killed by her partner and his parents in Mexico City. She was reported missing in March 2023 and her body was found in an apartment in September 2023. The authorities initially claimed that she died of natural causes, but later revealed that she suffered multiple traumas. Her killers also drugged and prostituted her, according to leaked videos.

The case sparked outrage and protests against femicide and police corruption in Mexico.

The two police officers involved in the femicide of Montserrat Juárez in the Miguel Hidalgo neighborhood last September were arrested, they are René “N” and Freddy “N”.

Pablo Vázquez, head of the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) of CDMX, reported that René was detained in the state of Hidalgo.

“Colleagues from SSC-CDMX arrested René “N” this afternoon in the Mexican state of Hidalgo, the second person involved in the Monserrat femicide. As we have said before: thanks to the coordinated work with the CDMX Prosecutor’s Office, there will be no impunity in this case, nor in any other,” the secretary wrote in his X account.

RIP Montserrat Juarez

Shortly before, the capital’s prosecutor’s office reported the arrest of Freddy “N”, an element that contacted the funeral agency and did not notify the agency of the young woman’s death of the facts.
