Over 3,000 National Guard members will watch the Tren Maya route in Quintana Roo

The Secretary of National Defense (Sedena), Luis Cresencio Sandoval, announced the arrival of 3,200 National Guard members to Quintana Roo in the presence of Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa.

These members will be responsible for ensuring the security of the Tren Maya and contributing to the establishment of peace in the region.

Cresencio Sandoval also revealed the installation of 3 new Mexican Air Force bases in Quintana Roo, along with the allocation of 5 aircraft solely for the security of the train. This will ensure the protection of passengers and the safeguarding of the transportation system.

The head of Sedena reported that currently, there are 2,454 National Guard members deployed in Quintana Roo. He also highlighted the collaboration of other security forces, including 658 state police officers, 4,339 municipal police officers, 1,776 from the Army and Air Force, 2,230 from the Navy, and 2,727 from the National Guard, including 550 members of the tourist battalion.

In total, 11,730 security personnel are working in Quintana Roo to guarantee the protection and safety of residents, as well as visitors and tourists. Cresencio Sandoval emphasized that the collaboration among these forces has contributed to the reduction of crimes in the region and is based on the New Agreement for Well-being and Development promoted by Governor Mara Lezama since the beginning of her term.

Governor Mara Lezama has allocated a historic investment of more than 2 billion pesos to enhance the security of the population. This includes the acquisition of 689 vehicles, 507 ballistic vests, and a helicopter, further strengthening efforts to ensure the security of Quintana Roo and its residents.
