New “Va y Ven” units arrive for the Periférico route

In order to reduce waiting time and make the service more efficient, the State Government announced that starting this Monday 4 more units will be incorporated to the Periferico route of the public transportation system “Va y Ven”, to meet the high demand due to the success of this route, thus continuing with the transformation of mobility promoted by Governor Mauricio Vila Dosal to offer a service that meets the needs of Yucatecans.

In response to user requests, the state administration through the Yucatan Transportation Agency (ATY), announced that the service of this route will be expanded with the addition of 4 new “Va y Ven” units, which will add a total of 26 buses that will provide service to the more than 20,000 daily users currently served by this route.

The purpose of these four new units is to reduce waiting times and thus respond to the increased demand of users, since at the beginning of this route the service was provided with 20 units, to which, in January of this year, 2 were added and now 4 more are incorporated, giving a total of 26 units that circulate from Monday to Sunday from 5:00 am to 11:00 pm.

It is worth remembering that the Periférico route was the first of the “Va y Ven” Public Transportation System, with which the transformation of mobility in Yucatán began when it started operations on November 27, 2021 and to date it has made more than 10 million trips and traveled almost 5 million kilometers.

This route connects more than 255 neighborhoods throughout the city of Merida through the Peripheral Ring through 69 stops, serving more than 218 thousand inhabitants who have new and modern buses with universal accessibility measures such as wheelchair ramp, exclusive spaces, Braille signage, as well as low and podotactile floor, which provides greater safety to the disabled and elderly population.

Multimodality is also promoted with bicycle racks and the route can be followed in real time through the Va-y-ven application; in this way, the Governor reaffirms his commitment to public transportation users to continue advancing in the transformation of mobility in the state, with a dignified and quality service for all.

The Transportation Agency of Yucatan (ATY) offers its 072 line, the email queja.transporte@yucatan.gob.mx, the module of the Transportation Directorate and the ChatBus instant messaging service via WhatsApp at 999 165 24 74, to resolve doubts and raise reports about the service.
