Cultur will present an exhibition at the Museo del Meteorito entitled “Brief journey through the history of the emergence of the coastal point called Progreso as a commercial port in Yucatán”. The exhibit, made in collaboration with the Universidad Autónoma de Yucatán and the Pedro Guerra Photo Library, is based on historical documents from the Archivo General del Estado de Yucatán (AGEY) dating from 1863 to 1951.

The exhibition will open next Wednesday, October 11 at 10 am and will be open to the public until Monday, November 13 at the Meteorite Museum, with free admission. Visitors will be able to enjoy this collection of documents and images from 11 am to 7 pm.

The objective of this presentation is to offer a graphic testimony of the emergence and development of Progreso as a commercial port for the export and import of local merchandise nationally and internationally, contributing to the commercial integration of Yucatán and Mexico into the world market through the port of Progreso.

The exhibition will feature relevant historical documents, such as correspondence from the Ministry of Justice, Development and Public Instruction with the governor of Yucatán regarding the approval of the deeds for the construction of the railroad from Mérida to Progreso in 1863, among other significant documents that will reflect the evolution of Progreso as a commercial port.
