With 21 deaths and 12,703 cases, 37.12 percent of the total, the Yucatan Peninsula remains the region most affected by the dengue epidemic in the country, reveals the statistical update of the 41st epidemiological week of the Ministry of Health.

In Yucatan alone, the entity with the highest number of cases at the national level, with 8,265, some 750 cases were confirmed in the last week, reveals the document Panorama Epidemiológico de Dengue 2023, published by the agency. Prevalence increased from 322.54 to 354.36 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last seven days.

Specifically, cases of dengue with alarm signs (DCSA) totaled 3,552, or 42.97 percent of the total; only 48 people have been diagnosed with severe symptoms, 20 more than the previous week; 54 percent of the patients had no complications.

In recent days, state authorities assured that the epidemic is at its highest point so that by the end of October it will be possible to see a decrease in the number of cases in the state. For the time being, the most vulnerable are children under 15 years of age and those over 60 years of age, so precautions such as the use of repellent, long sleeves when going out at night, and protectors on doors and windows are requested.
