On Wednesday, October 4th, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken arrived in Mexico from Texas to begin a working visit to our country, which includes meetings with Mexican authorities led by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
Upon his arrival in an aircraft from his country’s air force at the Felipe Ángeles International Airport, shortly after 4:30 PM, he was received by the head of the North American Unit, Roberto Velasco, as well as by Ambassador Esteban Moctezuma and Ken Salazar, the US ambassador.
Blinken is accompanied by US Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas, Attorney General Merrick Garland, among other high-ranking officials from the Joe Biden administration.
Around 6:30 PM, Blinken will hold a ministerial meeting on migration attended by Chancellor Alicia Bárcena, as well as the Foreign Ministers of Colombia, Álvaro Leyva, and Panama, Janaina Tewaney.
Later, Antony Blinken will participate in a working dinner hosted by the Mexican chancellor.
On Thursday, the delegations from the United States and Mexico will meet for the High-Level Security Dialogue, where topics such as drug trafficking, fentanyl, arms trafficking, and migration will be discussed.
