428,695 workers registered with the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) in Yucatan

Merida, Yucatan, October 16, 2023.- Yucatan continues to transform itself with a new historical maximum of job sources in September, when 428,695 workers were registered with the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), as a result of the arduous promotion carried out by Governor Mauricio Vila Dosal to attract investments to the entity.

In its September report, the IMSS highlighted that the state registered an annual growth of 4.5% compared to the same month in 2022, an increase that was higher than the national increase of 3.4%, placing the state among the first 8 positions at national level with the highest increase.

It is worth noting that in Yucatan, since May 2021, there have been 29 consecutive months of annual growth in the number of workers affiliated to the IMSS.

Thus, between September 2022 and 2023, 18,413 new sources of work were created and from January to February of this year there was a 3.4% growth in the number of insured workers and, in that same period of months, 14,256 new jobs were generated.

This means that during the current Vila Dosal administration 59,155 new jobs have been generated, which places Yucatan among the top 10 places with the highest job generation in the analyzed period, which translates into the creation of 986 jobs per month.

These results support the development that is being promoted in the state, as a result of the Governor’s promotion of its competitive advantages at an international level, which translates into more than 260 projects, for over 114,000 million pesos, from world-class companies such as Tesla, Amazon, Airbus, Accenture and Leoni, which are opening more and better jobs.

In this way, Vila Dosal continues to make efforts, because there is still more to do to continue improving the income and working conditions of Yucatecans, as this is the way in which the quality of life of families can be increased and, at the same time, the state continues to move forward.

All of this is part of the historic moment being experienced in Yucatan, as 2021 was the best year in economic growth and job generation, while, in 2022, an unprecedented number of foreign direct investment and tourist arrivals were reached, among other relevant indicators.

In addition, on the subject of combating poverty and the income of Yucatecan families, in recent months the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) reported that in Yucatan, the latter grew by 17% and in the last 2 years, more than 236,000 families stopped living in poverty.
