The Secretary of Public Security announced the arrest of the alleged author of the femicide.
A woman whose body appeared last Tuesday, August 29th, inside a hotel room in the center of Mérida was violently murdered and her alleged murderer has been arrested.
This was announced by the State Investigation Police (PEI) attached to the Ministry of Public Security (SSP), which reported the arrest of Andrés M. G., charged with the crime of femicide.
On Tuesday, August 29th, around 5 in the afternoon, a woman was found lifeless in one of the rooms of the Rodríguez Hotel, which is located on Calle 69 between 54 and 56 in the Center of Mérida, next to the San Benito Market.
The corpse was found by one of the employees of this old hotel who went into the room to check what was happening, after the check-out time had passed. He went to the second floor of the building, knocked on the door and as there was no answer, he entered the room and found the lifeless middle-aged woman.
This Saturday it was reported that investigative police in coordination with the State Attorney General’s Office, gathered the evidence that incriminates the subject in the death of the woman B.C.P.U., 29 years old and originally from Yucatán, which occurred between August 28 and 29 in the aforementioned hotel.
Based on the autopsy performed by FGE experts, the cause of death was mechanical asphyxiation by strangulation.
The defendant, 34 years old and originally from the state of Tabasco, was made available to the control judge who issued the arrest warrant.
In the investigations carried out by police and prosecutors, the collaboration of citizens who provided videos from their surveillance cameras of both private homes and businesses was of great help, for which the authorities expressed their gratitude.
