The Blendon Township, Ohio police have released the body camera footage of the officers involved in the death of Ta’Kiya Young, a 21-year-old pregnant black woman.
Young died after being shot by police officers on August 24th in the parking lot of a grocery store in an incident that also claimed the life of her unborn baby.
In the incident, one officer approaches the driver’s window while another stands in front. Young had been accused of stealing bottles of alcohol. According to store employees, multiple people had allegedly illegally taken items from the store but fled in other vehicles.
After a brief argument, the woman drove forward, and a police officer fired through the windshield. The car advanced several meters before crashing into the store’s wall.
Young received emergency medical attention from a doctor who witnessed the scene but did not survive.
