In the context of the Megatec Tour, which opened the day before yesterday at the Siglo XXI Convention Center, Mega Comunicaciones company announced that this year they have invested 242 million pesos in Mérida and are building 1,180 kilometers of fiber-optic network to provide their telecommunications and information technology services to homes and businesses.
The announcement was made by Enrique Yamuni Robles, CEO of the 100% Mexican company with 40 years of experience in providing services to companies, governments, and education. It’s the first time the tour has come to Mérida.
The company, which generates over 30,000 direct jobs nationwide, has an investment of 11.8 billion pesos, making it the telecommunications company in Mexico that invests the most, as Yamuni Robles announced.
In front of a large group of people and special guests, including Hernán Mojica Ruiz, Director of Information Technologies for the Mérida City Council, Yamuni Robles emphasized that Mega’s value proposition for the mass market includes internet, landline and mobile phone services, and interactive HD television (via the XVIEW+ platform).
“We are very pleased to be in Mérida, a city that is part of our expansion plan to bring residential and corporate services, provided through a fiber-optic network that guarantees quality and speed in connection,” he said.
Mega also offers businesses and families the best tools, essential for work and education, as well as the widest entertainment options.
He also mentioned that Mega’s service deployment in the Yucatecan capital means the creation of 840 jobs (direct and indirect), a figure that they aim to increase to 1,000 in the next year.
He also said that in the three states of the Peninsula and Tabasco, the company is investing over 549 million pesos to build an additional 3,050 kilometers of fiber-optic network, which will cover 670,000 households, representing 84% coverage.
Currently, the network covers 357,000 passed homes, 36% of the region.
The inauguration also featured Teodoro García Batiz, Director of ho1a MetroCarrier, who, in addition to talking about services and portfolios, shared some success stories of the company.
After the opening speeches, executives and guests toured the stands while waiting for the specialists’ lectures.
The Megatec Tour, which is coming to Mérida for the first time, has been held in different cities across the country for 12 years, except in Mexico City, Guadalajara, and Monterrey, where it takes place every year.
During the event, in partnership with AWS (Amazon Web Services), the evolution of Cloud services offerings was presented, providing business continuity services such as Backup, Recovery, and DRPaaS (Disaster Recovery as a Managed Service) for the safeguarding of information and ensuring processes for corporations, the public sector, and regional operators.
