The VIII Cultural and Literary Encounter is held in Mérida

With the participation of great writers from the Yucatan Peninsula, the VIII Cultural and Literary Encounter is taking place under the slogan “Readers looking to the southeast”, to showcase the literary quality of the state and this area of the country.

This event, organized by the Yucatan International Reading Fair (FILEY) in conjunction with UC – Mexicanistas, will take place from Friday, September 8 to Sunday, September 9 at the University Cultural Center (CCU) and the Faculty of Architecture, both of the Autonomous University of Yucatan.

During the opening ceremony held in the former CCU’s Council Hall, UADY’s Rector, Carlos Alberto Estrada Pinto, highlighted the academic collaboration between the two organizations.

“For our University it is a great honor and privilege that we can have this collaboration of so many years that allows us to strengthen us in the academic aspect and allows us to link with different people and organizations in Mexico and the world, giving support to all literary activities,” he said.
In her message, the director of UC-Mexicanistas, Sara Poot Herrera, indicated that this meeting allows us to open up the literary map of Mexico and show that Yucatán, in addition to its food and music, has great literary quality.
