Subject accused of stabbing and robbing a woman in downtown Merida is arrested

September 27th, 2023 – Agents of the State Investigation Police (PEI) of the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP) arrested today Jesús Manuel O. H., who was probably responsible for the assault of a woman early last Sunday morning in Merida’s downtown area.

Investigating police officers in coordination with the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) collected the evidence on the basis of which a control judge issued this first arrest warrant against the 19-year-old subject, originally from Villahermosa, Tabasco.

The crime is specific homicide for the purpose of attempted robbery.

The investigations resulted in the location and capture of the individual, who was placed at the disposal of the judicial authorities.

On the same day, another woman was robbed and injured with a knife in Parque de Las Américas, a case in which the authorities are moving forward to obtain a court order.

The Secretary of Public Security and the State Attorney General’s Office reiterate their gratitude to the citizens for their valuable collaboration from the moment the events were reported to 9-1-1 and for providing the investigating agents and prosecutors with the videos from their private and business cameras.
