Progreso City Hall works for more inclusion and diversity in its tourist offer

On International Tourism Day, we can observe the commitment of the City Hall of Progreso, led by Mayor Julián Zacarías Curi, to the transformation and diversification of tourism in the municipality.

After 5 years of hard work, Progreso and its surrounding areas have become a tourist magnet, captivating locals, nationals, and foreigners alike. This revitalization has not only enriched the community with increased local economic activity but has also provided benefits to the people of Progreso, who see tourism as a source of employment.

Currently, Progreso and its surrounding areas offer a wealth of attractions that dazzle the world. The Jurassic Trail, located in Chicxulub, along with the Meteorite Museum “The Origin of Life” in Progreso, narrates the story before the impact that changed our planet, providing unique recreational and educational experiences.

Chuburná, on the other hand, is distinguished by its commitment to ecotourism and sustainable development. Isla Columpios, a collection of palapas and other attractions, offers visitors the opportunity to enjoy the sea in its purest form. Meanwhile, Chelem presents the Villa Pig Beach, a beach dedicated to wild and domestica animals protection.

Progreso’s beaches come to life with the Traditional Boardwalk, home to the World’s Longest Pier according to the Guinness World Records. It also proudly offers the first Inclusive Beach, where specialized staff caters to all visitors. Here, you can find restaurants, souvenir shops, and ice cream parlors that satisfy all the demands of families visiting the port. Moreover, an increasing number of cruise ships choose Progreso as a tourist stop on their travel routes.

The International Boardwalk is a paradise for outdoor sports enthusiasts, with the Viking Gym, Skate Park, and beach volleyball and soccer courts, all overlooking the emerald-colored sea that embraces the municipality’s beaches.
