The government of Yucatán announced 16 new charges in the archaeological zone of Chichén Itzá, among them for their musical trio and cleansing ritual with a Mayan priest.
The list of new rates that State Cultur charges in Chichén Itzá was published in the Official Gazette of the Government of Yucatán – in the evening edition – last Friday the 22nd, the same day that the INAH opened the Chichén Viejo section to the public and a few hours later of the autumn equinox, an event that generated the massive arrival of visitors to the archaeological zone located in the municipality of Tinum.
Agreement 22/2023 was “approved by the Governing Board of the Board of Trustees of the Cultural and Tourist Services Units of the State of Yucatán, in its second extraordinary session, held in Mérida, Yucatán, on September 19, 2023,” says the Cultur document promulgated on Friday the 22nd in the afternoon.
Parking rates are now 110 pesos for buses and $90 for cars.
Cultur charges for the rental of billboards. For the different advertisements that exist in various parts of the area, charges range from 5,800 to 60,000 pesos, depending on the location. Likewise, for the public service of night tour and projection with audio-light narration called “Chichén Itzá, Noches de Kukulkan”, Cultur now charges 382.80 pesos for each visitor, whether Mexican or foreign. Only Mexicans visiting Chichen on Sunday will not pay this fee.
For the “special night tour and projection with audio-light narration called ‘Chichén Itzá, Nights of Kukulkan’”, the group of 50 to 100 members must pay 1,103 pesos, and the group of 101 to 600 people 850 pesos.
The most expensive services with the musical trio (approximate duration of 30 minutes), at 8,000 pesos; the cleansing ceremony with a Mayan shaman (40 minutes), and the folkloric ballet service, (30 minutes) at 9,999 pesos.
In addition, for a “special function, night tour, and projection with audio-light narration called “Chichén Itzá, Nights of Kukulkan” and use of facilities for up to 300 people”, 276,052 per person.
