The Metropolitan Technological University welcomed more than 3,000 students for the start of the semester, of which 1,270 are newly enrolled in one of the 18 Technician career programs at University Superior (TSU).
Mérida, Yucatán, September 4, 2023.- The rector of the UTM, Mtra. María Isabel Rodríguez Heredia highlighted that in this course the TSU in Aeronautical Manufacturing, Precision Machining Area, was integrated into the educational offer, with the first generation made up of 25 young people.
He pointed out that thanks to the initiative promoted by Governor Mauricio Vila Dosal to provide a 100 percent scholarship to young women with the Mujeres STEM program, in these four months more than 400 students benefited from studying a career in the field of Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics and that are part of all the academic divisions of the UTM.
“We recognize that the increase in enrollment is a sign of the interest of young people in their education and it is also an effort by Yucatecan families who manage, in some cases, to have their first generation of children with higher education. Here we welcome students from Mérida and municipalities in the interior of the state who choose us to be part of their path to professional and personal success with open arms,” said Rodríguez Heredia.
She added that thanks to the work of the UTM faculty and administrative staff, from today this house of studies serves the more than 3,000 students of this September-December 2023 semester.
