DZIDZANTUN, Yucatan, September 04, 2023.- A minor was reportedly hospitalized after suffering a cardiac arrhythmia in Dzidzantun, when she had gathered with a group to do a homework assignment.

Paramedics transferred a minor to the emergency room of Hospital O’Horán due to a cardiac arrhythmia. The minor reportedly overdosed on an illicit substance, presumably sugar cane liquor (some kind of Mexican “moonshine”), in Dzidzantún.

The incident occurred during a school equipment task that the group of minors was allegedly performing, in a property located on 20th street between 9th and 11th of the aforementioned municipality.

One of the mothers of the minors in this group commented that her son asked her permission to go out to do a team task at the house of one of his classmates.

According to the mother’s statement, one of the minors suggested that the group drank alcohol and that she could get it because an “old man” sold it to her at the local Six.

After drinking the bottle, presumably of moonshine, one of the minors began to feel ill. She had a heart arrhythmia attack.

They immediately called the emergency contacts; paramedics from the Secretaría de Seguridad Pública (SSP) arrived at the scene, and transferred the minor to the emergency room of the Hospital General Agustín O’Horan.

Another version that emerged is that one of the kids was supposedly carrying a syringe with some kind of substance. However, the boy’s mother denies this version completely.
