Mérida City Council launches call to create a waste container

The Mérida City Council , through the Sustainable Development Unit, presented the Contest: “Design of the Waste Separation Module at Home”, in order to make a call for college students who can come up with disruptive ideas that contribute to solve the problem of comprehensive care of solid waste starting from home.

Ser seeks to reinforce the strategy of “Green Points” and “Zero Waste” in the city, informed the director of the agency Alejandra Bolio Rojas.

She pointed out that the objective is for young people to design a module that allows the citizens of the Yucatecan capital to acquire a sustainable culture focused on the correct disposal, separation and recycling of solid waste that people generate everyday in their homes.

He said that the call is aimed at college students from Mérida and the rest of state, who may participate individually, or in groups of up to three people, in which a tutor is proposed.

Those interested will have to present some identification that accredits them as students and fill out a registration form on the page https://forms.gle/bpyDXBmA4Jd1qkAG7 .

The process will have two phases: first, the participant needs to register, so he/she can take part of the informative and awareness talks that will be given from September 25 to 29,.

In this same stage, the digital design of the project will be delivered with its descriptive file, detailing materials, dimensions and general characteristics, which will be received on October 20 at: cultura.ambiental@merida.gob.mx

The proposals will be analyzed from October 21 to 26 and the winners will be announced on the 27th of that month.
