Man suffers cardiac arrest and dies in the streets of downtown Mérida

On Monday, September 18th, around 1:30 PM, agents of the Mérida Municipal Police became aware of an unconscious person named D.L.S., 65 years old, in a building located on 56th Street, between 61st and 59th Streets, where renovation work is taking place.

Police officers and paramedics from the corporation were dispatched to the scene, and they confirmed the information, finding that this individual had suffered a cardiac arrest.

The paramedic team immediately began administering CPR techniques in an attempt to revive the person.

Paramedics from the Red Cross and the Ministry of Public Security also joined in this effort. Despite their efforts for over 40 minutes to revive him, the person passed away at the scene.

The Mérida Municipal Police agents proceeded to cordon off the area and reported the incident to the Forensic Medical Service of the State Attorney General’s Office for the necessary legal procedures.
