A gigantic Watusi bull and its owner were detained last Wednesday after the quadruped named Howdy Doody was spotted traveling as a co-pilot in a vehicle on Highway 275 in Nebraska, United States.

According to the local news outlet News Channel Nebraska, the curious detention occurred around 10 in the morning when Norfolk city police received a call “referring to a car heading into town with a bovine inside.”

The police “thought it was going to be a calf, something small, or something that could actually fit inside the vehicle,” shared Police Captain Chad Reiman, according to this report.

However, they found Howdy Doody traveling in a specially adapted car for his immensity, alongside his human companion identified as Lee Meyer.

According to Sky News, Lee Meyer has driven the vehicle with the bull in parades throughout the region for many years.

The car has half of the windshield and roof removed to create space for Howdy Doody. Additionally, instead of a normal door, it has a yellow metal livestock entrance.

“During a parade held in Burwell last month, a sign attached to Mr. Meyer’s vehicle proudly proclaimed that Howdy Doody’s extraordinary car had won the title of best participating car in the Nebraska Rodeo Grand Parade,” says the note from the American media.

Interviewed by Sky News, Rhonda Meyer, Lee’s wife, stated that the bull is an “integral part of the family,” although she admitted that she was not always thrilled about the amount her husband spent on the bull over the years.

“With the amount of money he has spent on this darn project, between the car and the bull, he could have bought me a new kitchen,” Rhoda told the mentioned media.

In statements to the radio station US92 of Norfolk, she said that Howdy Doody has been a “friend and colleague” of Mr. Meyer’s since he got him eight or nine years ago.

Following last Wednesday’s vehicle stop, Lee Reimer and Howdy Doody were released with just a warning, on the condition that both immediately return home.
