A delegation of representatives from 13 Yucatecan companies affiliated with Canacintra will be traveling to Guatemala this weekend as the second business delegation to visit the neighboring southern country. The objective is to increase the presence of Yucatecan brands in the region.

Abelardo Casares Add, the president of the National Chamber of the Transformation Industry (Canacintra), explained that this time, companies from the food sector under the brand “Hecho en Yucatán” (Made in Yucatán) are traveling to Guatemala. The purpose is to strengthen commercial and service ties that were established in 2021.

“The proposal is to establish contacts with Guatemalan companies for the distribution of Yucatecan products and thereby set up distribution points throughout Central America from Guatemala,” he emphasized.

He noted that this business meeting has invited Guatemalan wholesalers and retailers to showcase the wide portfolio of products offered by the state under the “Hecho en Yucatán” brand. Yucatán boasts 1,279 companies, 2,558 brands, and nearly 18,000 products spanning various sectors such as food, automotive, construction, wood, furniture, footwear, chemicals, machinery, and equipment, to name just a few.

Casares highlighted that this is the second business commission to visit Guatemala, as a previous mission yielded positive results, including closed sales. This success has led to a second working group, which will conduct presentations and business meetings with Central American entrepreneurs on this occasion.

Lastly, he mentioned that Guatemala will serve as a gateway for “Hecho en Yucatán” to potentially expand into Honduras, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and possibly Panama, collectively reaching around 63 million consumers.
