Yucatan is second place nationwide in Covid-19 cases

The Federal Health Secretariat reported that Yucatan ranks second nationwide in the number of active cases of Covid-19 in the country.

However, they rule out a new wave of infections of that disease. According to the authority, the Covid-19 in the country does not have high mortality rates. There are 3,872 active cases of Covid-19 registered in Mexico of people who started with symptoms of the infection after 14 days.

The federal agency indicated that the states with the most active cases are Mexico City with 1,134; Yucatan with 161; Querétaro and Quintana Roo with 67; Campeche with 55; Colima with 43 and; Baja California Sur with 37 cases.

However, the health authorities assure that there has not been an increase in cases and deaths, and Covid-19 remains at lower levels and shows no signs that a new wave of this disease could occur.

Regarding deaths, the number confirmed with laboratory tests went from 333,683 to 334,472, a difference of 789 in the same period.

As of August 1st, the Ministry of Health reported 114 people hospitalized; In nine states, hospital occupancy was higher than 5% and Colima stands out with 21% and Zacatecas 12%.

In recent days, the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) warned about changes in the behavior of the Covid-19 pandemic and again called for the use of face masks. He indicated that in recent weeks more positive cases of the disease have been registered, “revealing that the virus circulates widely at the community level in much of the country.”
