In an unusual event in Mérida, a woman led a chase on Itzaes Avenue and then attacked the another driver, accusing her of having caused a traffic accident.
The incident occurred around 10 in the morning on Thursday, August 31. The assaulted woman explained that she was driving her car on Itzaes Avenue when suddenly a red sedan driven by another woman blocked her path, who began to claim an alleged crash.
“My car has nothing, it has not crashed nor did I feel the crash at any time, hers was crashed, but not by me,” he said.
She indicated that she left a relative in a clinic and continued on her way, but the person who claimed the alleged crash began to follow her along Itzaes until the assaulted woman returned and parked at 79 Street in the Sambulá colony.
“I called my husband and he told me to pull over and call insurance and the police. I did that, but the woman parked her car behind mine, got out, approached my car, and hit me in the face,” the complainant said.
The victim had a nosebleed, while the person claiming the alleged damages got back into his car and left.
The injured woman called the police and within minutes two agents from the Ministry of Public Security (SSP) arrived at the scene, who, at the woman’s request, requested the support of paramedics from the same corporation who checked the assaulted woman. He only suffered a severe bruise to his nose.
Although the police officers did nothing to locate and arrest the attacker, even though the victim provided them with the characteristics of the car and the license plates, they did recommend that the victim go to the State Attorney General’s Office to file a complaint.
“Yes, I am going (to file a complaint), because that person took my vehicle license plates and I fear that he will do something worse to me,” said the woman.
