Strange fire at a bar in Motul, Yucatán firefighters arrive to control the flames

A peculiar fire occurred in the municipality of Motul, Yucatán, as a bar located behind the Municipal Palace went up in flames.

According to the statement by the Motul Municipality, on Friday, August 18th, around 10 at night, it was necessary to use a water tanker from the municipality’s Civil Protection team after a fire was reported within a bar located behind the Municipal Palace.

It’s worth mentioning that it was the residents of the municipality who alerted the authorities, prompting the intervention of Civil Protection brigades to extinguish the flames. The Municipal Police also provided support by cordoning off the area and facilitating the work of the Civil Protection personnel.

Although the flames were subdued, the cause of the fire remains a concern. Reports indicate that the bar lacked electricity and gas pipelines, making it unclear what initiated the fire.

Fortunately, there were no human casualties, and the damage was limited to material losses.

Similar to this incident, in recent days there have been two other fires in Yucatán. One of them claimed the life of an elderly woman who sought refuge in her bathroom during the fire and tragically perished.

A few days after this incident, a significant fire was reported at the warehouses of the non-polluting Industrial Park in Mérida.
