If you are looking for a place to relax and enjoy the natural beauty of the Yucatan Peninsula, San Crisanto might be the perfect destination for you. San Crisanto is a small fishing village that offers a semi-virgin beach, a mangrove forest, and a salt mine, among other attractions.

San Crisanto has one of the cleanest beaches in Yucatan, where you can swim, sunbathe, walk, or simply admire the scenery. The beach is also known for its spectacular sunsets, as the sea recedes and forms a large sandbar that extends for more than 300 meters along the coast. You can stay in one of the eco-friendly cabins or camp on the shore, surrounded by palm trees and palapas.

One of the must-do activities in San Crisanto is to take a boat tour through the mangroves, which are also called the “Venetian Yucatan” because of their beauty and diversity. Along the way, you can see different species of birds, fish, turtles, and even some small swamp lizards. The tour ends at a freshwater spring called Dzonot-Tzik, where you can swim and refresh yourself.

San Crisanto is located 80 kilometers (49 miles) northeast of Merida (INEGI)

Another attraction of San Crisanto is its salt mine, which is a traditional activity inherited from the Maya ancestors. You can visit the salt ponds, which have a pink hue due to the microorganisms that live there. You can also learn about the process of extraction, cultivation, drying, and collection of salt from the local workers. You can buy some fresh salt with a unique artisanal production.

Finally, you can also enjoy the gastronomy of San Crisanto, which is based on fresh seafood and coconut products. You can try dishes such as ceviche, fried fish, coconut shrimp, and coconut ice cream. You can also find various shops, restaurants, markets, and places to buy drinks in this charming town.

San Crisanto is a hidden gem on the Yucatecan coast that will captivate you with its tranquility and natural beauty. It is an ideal place to escape from the routine and connect with nature.

This is NOT a picture of San Crisanto. It looks like the east coast.

I actually drove past here last week and it looks like the real thing to me! I was going from Cuidad del Carmen to Playa Del Carmen.
