Russia Prepares Moon Mission

On August 10th, Russia will launch its robotic module Luna-25 to the Moon aboard a Soyuz-2.1b rocket, marking the first mission to this celestial body in over 50 years.

The artifact is expected to land at the South Pole of the Moon and explore resources while studying the structure of our planet’s only satellite.

The previous station, Luna-24, was sent in 1976, and its capsule returned to Earth with around 170 grams of lunar soil.
