Healthy and environmentally-friendly mobility is a priority for the Municipality of Mérida. Therefore, Mayor Renán Barrera Concha emphasized that their vision and actions are based on their usefulness, but most importantly, on the collective and social benefits for the people of Mérida.

He pointed out that the “Move Around Mérida” strategy encompasses a set of actions such as the “On Bike” program, Link Circuit for Vulnerable People, Adventure Circuit, Zone 30, and safe crossings. The provision of bike parking also offers a wide range of options that prioritize sustainable mobility for citizens.

Additionally, he highlighted that, in line with major cities worldwide, Mérida introduced the “On Bike” program last June. This new sustainable and secure mobility option has been used by over 100,000 users in the past three months.

He recalled that “On Bike,” which has received a great response from users, will remain a free service until August 31 of this year.

Furthermore, Barrera Concha underscored the consolidation of the “Link Circuit” and the “Adventure Circuit.” The latter provides families and visitors with a connection between neighborhoods and the city’s zoos. Both free services cater to an average of 80,000 users monthly.

Regarding the “Adventure Circuit,” he noted that out of the 80,000 monthly users, approximately 55,000 people utilize this route for free transportation to the Centenario, Animaya, and Extreme Sports Park.

The Mayor also mentioned the active involvement of the Municipality in the Comprehensive Plan for Sustainable Urban Mobility (PIMUS), which has focused on implementing strategic actions.

Finally, he informed that the Municipality has also provided guidance and support to promote a culture of urban mobility among students at higher education institutions.
