Even though there are months of low season for the arrival of passengers at the “Manuel Crescencio Rejón” International Airport of Mérida, it is expected that by the end of the year the number of passengers received in 2022 will be exceeded, which was 3,100,000, reported the administrator of the local terminal, Óscar Carrillo Maldonado.

In an interview, he said that the number of passengers that have arrived in Yucatan by air has maintained a growth trend, something that prevailed in July when there was a record 319,237 people arrived at the airport, which meant an increase of 20% compared to the same month, but last year.

He stated that, from January to July of this year, 2,108,000 travelers have arrived at the airport terminal, which meant an increase of 30% compared to the same period in 2022, good numbers, especially since this year’s goal is to exceed the accumulated of 2022.

“I believe that we will be exceeding the accumulated total of last year, which was 3,100,000, but what we do not know is when,” said Carrillo Maldonado, who recalled that October and November are low months in the number of visitors who arrive by air at the state since a drop of 10% is registered.

He explained that if about 10,000 passengers were received per day during high season, in October and November approximately 9,000 would be arriving. Despite being a low figure, these are higher numbers than last year, which consolidates the trend that it will be possible to exceed the accumulated total of 2022.
