Intoxicated man allegedly sets a truck on fire in Progreso

A dump truck was set on fire yesterday Tuesday morning in the Progreso-Chicxulub road. The fire would have been intentional, presumably committed by a man who was intoxicated with drugs or alcohol.

The vehicle was parked across from the Instituto Tecnológico Superior Progreso when it suddenly began to burn.

The incident occurred at 9 in the morning. Policemen who were passing through the place noticed the fire and called for the support of the firefighters who arrived a few minutes later to put out the fire.

The truck, registration number 2YP-685-A, owned by a transporter from Progreso, was left with serious damage that could be a total loss. Municipal agents were in charge of the arrest of N.E.P.O., 36 years old, alleged perpetrator of the dump truck fire.

The driver of that truck was in the cab and got out when he felt the fire.
