The 40-year-old Hilario Luna Hernández from Tabasco has been reported missing since Friday, August 11th, after falling off the ship “Gilbert VI”, which had set sail in recent days to go in search of octopus off the coast of Yucatan.
Interviewed in front of the Thirteenth Yucalpetén Naval Zone, his brothers expressed that they had to come to Progreso from the aforementioned state in order to begin inquiries to find the whereabouts of the fisherman, since inconsistencies regarding the case persist.
Vicaria Luna, the missing man’s sister, found that there have been inconsistencies regarding the case, because while the ship’s watchman told her that her relative fell near El Cuyo, the Regional Ports Captaincy mentioned that the disappearance was in the vicinity of “The Coloradas”.
Something that was also confirmed by the authorities is that there is already a search and rescue protocol ongoing, although the time limit will only be 72 hours; However, the relatives do not have any guarantees that military units have really set sail to go in search of the seaman with more than a decade of experience.
The woman with whom the fisherman has a common-law relationship verified that he did not have a sea record when embarking, so the boarding of the missing person now becomes the responsibility of the aforementioned agency. Meetings were held where the permit holders requested a strict review and dispatch before the smaller and larger vessels go out to sea.
