Faced with criticism for the content of the new textbooks that the Ministry of Public Education (SEP) will distribute across Mexico, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, assured that “the books are very well written”, since they were made by “specialists, educators and teachers”.

The president assured the above after the controversy in which these publications have been involved, which in a few weeks will be distributed in the country’s schools.

According to PAN and PRI legislators, together with specialists and professors, the Permanent Commission of the Congress of the Union warned of the risk of not withdrawing free textbooks, because their contents are deficient, lacking knowledge and made to adoctrinate the children of Mexico.

In this context, the Chief Executive pointed out that most of those who criticize the books have not even read them and incidentally affirmed that “some people are very conservative.”

We can face the smear campaign in the media. In most cases they have not even read the textbooks, the rejection comes from the conservatism of some people, that obscures them, so they see communists everywhere”, López Obrador said.

Finally, López Obrador called on parents “not to be afraid” of the content of textbooks.
