The fishing tournament organized by the labor union of workers from the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) ended in tragedy when one of the participants was reported dead.
The incident took place in Telchac Puerto, the location of this sporting event, where hundreds of IMSS employees gathered.
According to the information obtained, the event occurred on Saturday afternoon when a group of men from the city of Mérida set sail about nine fathoms from the port. At some point, R.M., a crew member of the boat, jumped into the sea.
Due to the rough sea conditions, the man was dragged away by the tide and began to drown. Although his companions tried to assist him, his body was carried away by the current. Finally, they managed to retrieve his body, but unfortunately, he no longer showed signs of life.
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation was attempted on land, but his body did not respond, so the authorities were informed to proceed with the recovery of the body.
