The teamwork of the people of Yucatán, led by Governor Mauricio Vila Dosal, to attract new investments that generate more and better job opportunities has allowed Yucatán to rank second as the state with the lowest unemployment rate in the country, with a rate of 1.2%, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI).
In its report for May, the federal agency pointed out that this figure is lower than the national average, which was 2.9%. This represents a decrease of -0.7% in unemployment and a advancement of 2 positions in the national ranking compared to May 2022.
In the monthly comparison, the state experienced a decrease of -0.93% and an improvement of 9 positions compared to the previous month, namely April.
These figures reflect the historic moment that Yucatán is experiencing. 2021 was the best year in terms of economic growth and job creation, while 2022 witnessed an unprecedented number of foreign direct investment and tourist arrivals, among other relevant indicators, demonstrating the national and international promotion led by Vila Dosal to showcase the region to the world.
This translates into the arrival of more than 260 projects, worth over 114 billion pesos, from world-class companies such as Tesla, Amazon, Airbus, Accenture, and Leoni, which are creating more and better job opportunities.
As an example, the first Mercado Libre Distribution Center in the southeastern part of the country was established in the state, specifically in the municipality of Umán, where 250 people are already employed, with the projection of reaching up to 1,000 employees. This investment is added to others such as Farmacias Similares, Amazon, and Walmart.
Therefore, Governor Vila Dosal reaffirms his commitment to continue working as a team to generate the high-quality jobs that the people of Yucatán need, promoting the local economy, and improving the quality of life for families.
Thus, the Vila Dosal Government continues to work as a team to generate the high-quality jobs that the people of Yucatán need, promoting the local economy, and improving the quality of life for families.
