Mary Anastasia O’Grady, a columnist for the WSJ, warned that President López Obrador is right to worry about Xóchitl Gálvez since he sees her as a threat.
In his article, entitled “AMLO makes Xóchitl a household name in Mexico,” he assures that the senator is the president’s “worst nightmare” and highlights that she was born into a person of limited resources and managed to get ahead by her own means.
In this sense, the WSJ also highlights Xochitl Galvez’ business and political careers, as well as her aspiration for the presidential candidacy for the “Frente Amplio por México” (Broad Front for Mexico), which has evidently captured the attention of president Lopez Obrador, as he is constantly talking about her during his daily morning conferences.
Gálvez has declared that she has nothing to hide as a person or as a businesswoman. and she also pointed out that AMLO declared that the opposition had chosen her to compete in the 2024 elections. Lopez Obrador has talked about Xochitl Galvez in his morning conference for seven consecutive days.
