On Wednesday, the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena) and Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) located a presumed fuel theft tunnel in the community of San Cristóbal Zacacalco, belonging to the municipality of Calpulalpan.
According to local media, the tunnels were found thanks to a citizen’s report in the pipeline area of this locality, where a pit of approximately eight meters deep had been constructed.
Upon entering the site, personnel from Sedena, Pemex’s Physical Security Directorate, and the National Guard (GN) discovered ongoing excavation work in the tunnel that was about to reach the gas pipelines. It was confirmed that the intention was to steal the hydrocarbon.
As a result, the authorities filed a corresponding federal report in order to locate the alleged perpetrators involved in the construction of this structure.
