Running a stop sign, motorist collides with a moto taxi carrying 9 passengers

Several people were injured, none seriously, as a result of a driver in a Toyota Avanza van running a stop sign and colliding with a moto taxi carrying nine people. This incident occurred in the San José Tecoh neighborhood, south of Mérida.

According to reports, the van driver traveled on Calle 62 in the neighborhood mentioned on Sunday night. When reaching the intersection with 151st Street, the driver failed to notice the stop sign and crossed just as an overcrowded moto-taxi was passing by.

Due to the impact, the mototaxi overturned, ending up with its wheels in the air, and its passengers, including several minors, fell from the vehicle.

After the collision, the van veered to the right and crashed into a concrete CFE (Federal Electricity Commission) pole.

Upon realizing the consequences of his actions, the Avanza driver exited his vehicle and fled the scene.
