Renán Promotes More Spaces for Families in Mérida

Amid laughter, color, and fun, Mayor Renán Barrera Concha interacted with hundreds of children, youth, and parents in a grand gathering held as part of the 2023 summer courses organized by the Municipality of Mérida. These courses are offered at around 50 locations throughout the city and its districts.

During the celebration held in the Parque residential area, the Mayor emphasized that the purpose of these courses is to encourage children to practice dialogue, teamwork, and respect, with the aim of strengthening harmony as residents of a safe and inclusive city.

In his speech, Barrera Concha expressed gratitude to the families for their trust in the Municipal Government, assuring them that their children will enjoy these courses in spaces of wholesome interaction, such as sports fields, parks, courts, and cultural venues.

The Mayor reminded everyone that in July and August, 14 courses covering different disciplines will be offered, featuring sports, recreational, artistic, scientific, technological, and playful activities. Ten municipal departments are involved in organizing these courses: Health and Social Welfare, Urban Development, Information Technology, DIF (Integral Family Development), Municipal Public Services, Social Development, Cuxtal Ecological Reserve, Economic and Tourism Development, Sustainable Development, Municipal Police, and the Planning and Management Unit.

The opening event featured Julio Bit, Pope Pope’s Circus “Fantasy Worlds,” a rest tent, an educational circus, an interactive farm, a Photo Opportunity zone, a sports area, and activities for parents and children.

Likewise, there were workshops on archaeology, activities for people with disabilities, and trips to the Animaya and Centenario zoos.
