The City Council of Mérida has signed a collaboration agreement with CANACO SERVYTUR for the benefit of local SMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises) and entrepreneurs.

For the City Council of Mérida, it is of vital importance to support all citizens who wish to launch business projects that allow for better professional and personal development. That’s why we establish alliances with other sectors for the benefit of entrepreneurs,” stated Mayor Renán Barrera Concha.

The Mayor indicated that, thanks to the advice, mentoring, training, networking, and promotion offered through the Municipal Entrepreneurship Center, as well as the “Soy Parte de los 100” (I Am Part of the 100) program, Mérida is gaining increasing strength internationally as a city that embraces the entrepreneurial culture.

The City Council, through the Department of Economic Development and Tourism, and the National Chamber of Commerce, Services, and Tourism of Mérida (CANACO SERVYTUR), signed a commitment letter to continue promoting the connection and fair trade for small producers and entrepreneurs in the Municipality.

In the presence of José Luis Martínez Semerena, Director of Economic Development and Tourism, and Levy Abraham Macari, President of CANACO SERVYTUR Mérida, the collaboration agreement was signed, establishing joint work to support entrepreneurs.

The aim of this agreement is to promote the affiliation of entrepreneurs and SMEs to CANACO SERVYTUR Mérida, offering facilities in the incorporation process, presenting success stories and experiences for entrepreneurs through lectures given by Chamber entrepreneurs.

Furthermore, there will be a business matchmaking event between the chamber’s affiliates and entrepreneurs from the Mérida City Council; joint participation in the two annual editions of the Leader Sessions event and involvement in the 2023 Trade Expo in the Entrepreneurship area and the Department of Economic Development and Tourism.

Martínez Semerena mentioned that since the beginning of Mayor Renán Barrera’s administration, there has been a special interest in supporting entrepreneurs, as they are a fundamental part of the economic and equitable development of the Municipality.

One of these actions is to constantly strengthen the ties with the chambers, creating ongoing communication and opportunities, not only to showcase their work but also to bring them closer and boost their entrepreneurship from different perspectives.

Martínez Semerena pointed out that in addition to these commitment letters, throughout the year, various activities, programs, and events are carried out to support and promote entrepreneurs. One such event was the recent “Expo Emprende” held at Plaza Grande, which featured the participation of 40 brands.
