At the beginning of this week, a low-pressure channel in southeastern Mexico will bring heavy rainfall in specific areas of Veracruz, Oaxaca, and Chiapas, and strong rainfall in Tabasco. Additionally, the inflow of humidity from both coasts will cause strong showers in the Yucatán Peninsula, Puebla, Morelos, and the State of Mexico. There will also be intervals of showers in Coahuila, the eastern part of the Central Mesa, and Mexico City, as well as isolated rains in Querétaro, Guanajuato, and most of the northern and northeastern states of Mexico, according to the daily report from the National Meteorological Service (SMN).
Specifically in the Yucatán Peninsula, the weather is expected to be partly cloudy to cloudy during the day, with strong showers in the afternoon and evening in Campeche, Yucatán, and Quintana Roo, accompanied by lightning. The morning will be temperate, while the afternoon will be warm to hot. The wind will come from the east at 10 to 25 km/h, with gusts of up to 40 km/h in the region.
According to meteorologist Juan Antonio Palma from Meteorología Yucatán, due to the “Mayan trough” and the influence of a new tropical wave over the western Caribbean Sea, scattered storms are expected in the region on Monday. Despite the rainfall, the weather will still feel very hot.
